H.L. This album is a melodic masterpiece and one of the most intense epic black metal releases in the recent past. It is easy to sink deeply into the dense atmosphere. The first four songs are hypnotic and repetitive and offer just enough variation to keep a solid distance to boredom. (Only the final ambient song "Snow" is a waste of time.) While the drums hammer mainly straight forward, the guitars shred mind and soul. Thrilling and dynamic, spreading a similar mood as Sivyj Yar, Drudkh or Gherzen! Favorite track: Farewell.

The atmosphere of this album is fantastic. Makes you feel like you're knee-deep in the trenches drenched in mud, filth, sweat, and blood. Truly encapsulates the horrors of World War I, and the fact that the lyrics of some of the songs are taken from old war letters really adds to the authenticity.
